Build something out of sand.  No matter whether you're an amateur or an accomplished sand sculptor, bring your buckets and shovels.  All the raw materials you need for your sand castle or an elaborate work of art are readily available on our clean and spacious beaches.

A pair of dolphins begins to take form
from an ordinary sand pile.

This hockey owl made out of sand is a
tribute to the Carolina Hurricanes, winners
of the National Hockey League's  Stanley
Cup in 2006.  It was sculpted by a group
of sand sculpting artists for Raleigh
known as Sandy Feat.

A Sandy Feat artist uses a delicate blade to begin carving a goalkeeper figure
…from head to foot.

Go fly a kite!  The ocean breezes make for excellent kite flying conditions.  Locals and visitors alike can join the Carolina Kite Club, which meets every Sunday from 10 a.m.-12 noon at the western end of Fort Macon State Park along Beaufort Inlet.  The Carolina Kite Fest is an annual event that celebrates its 20-year anniversary in the fall of 2007.

Get married on the beach.  Having the Atlantic Ocean as the backdrop can be the perfect setting for your wedding ceremony.  You'll be certain to create a memory for your guests.  More and more couples are choosing to say their vows at the Crystal Coast.
