In 2007, Carteret General celebrates 40 Years of Caring. Since opening its doors July 1967 in Morehead City, Carteret General has grown to become the second largest employer in Carteret County with 1,100 employees.
The staff works with 65 active physicians and many consulting physicians to meet our community's growing health care needs.

Carteret General Hospital has been named among the top 5 percent in General Surgery for the nation, according to HealthGrades, the nation's leading health care ratings company. Patients rank the hospital above the 90th percentile of all hospitals nationwide in patient satisfaction surveys.
Carteret General is fully accredited by the Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
