About 135 Chamber members and guests attended the Chamber's Business After Hours on January 28 at Mac Daddy's in Cape Carteret. Here are Mac Holz and Marney McKee.
 
 

Valerie & Thom Styron of Styron & Styron Insurance were honored as the Chamber's Small Business Persons of the Year at the Crystal Ball. Additionally, Susan Davis received the Cassie Algeo Award for Extraordinary Chamber Leadership and Martha Vaughan was cited as the Chamber's Ambassador of the Year.
 
 

The Islander Suites of Emerald Isle won an Award of Merit for Development in the Renovation category. Accepting the award at the Chamber's Crystal Ball was Bill Brown of Coastal Building of Morehead City, the general contractor. He is shown here with his wife, Carolyn. New Construction winners were Grande Villas at Indian Beach, Coastal Home Gallery and the Town of Emerald Isle's EMS Building.
 
 

The Leadership Carteret Class of 2010 began its 10-week program on January 27 with 34 participants. They developed team-building skills on the Challenge Course at Morehead City Middle School.
 
 

Joe & Vickey Barwick attended the Chamber's Crystal Ball dinner/dance on January 23…and he was recognized as the 2009 Citizen of the Year. Dr. Joe retired in 2009 as President of Carteret Community College. Other major award winners were Thom & Valerie Styron, Susan Davis and Martha Vaughan. About 200 people attended the Crystal Ball.
